A letter from the our CEO, Brett Hogan

Dear New Visitors and Loyal Customers,

I have been blessed in my life in many ways. Family, friends, an innate business sense, good morals, strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, great opportunities, and luck have contributed to my success in life. I have combined each and every one of those, along with a passion for fun & outdoors, and brought them all  into every aspect of my life and business.

I have been in the vacation rental business since 2002 when I started in the Hamptons. As the song goes, “if I can make it there, then I’ll make it (bomp, bomp) anywhere. It’s up to you, New York, New York!” My once close friend and his father presented me with an opportunity to rent a million dollar mansion in the Hamptons. At that time I had no clue how that experience and their real estate expertise would dramatically impact my life.

As a boy growing up, we would vacation in the Poconos every summer. I have fond memories of going for breakfast at the quaint coffee shop around the corner and coming back to hop in the row boat to fish in the lake all day. After fishing, we’d row back to swim in the water with the rest of my family and dog, then BBQ for dinner, and finish up with slushies and ping pong before heading to bed. I absolutely cherished these times and looked forward to them year after year. Something about nature, its beauty and tranquility, always captivated and released me. Nowhere else, could I feel so at peace. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that I was born in Colorado.

I always dreamt big. As I grew up I knew I wanted to have my own house in the mountains – a place that I could call home and where I could bring my family. After working hard and saving almost every penny I had, I began my search for the right property. It took me 3 years, a lot of time and some heartache, but through perseverance and an incredible amount of support from others in my life (Thanks Heath, Dad, Mom, and Josh!) it all became worth it!

I purchased “Your Own Inn” in April of 2005. The previous owner was a sweet man who later told me after I purchased the property from him that he knew I was the one. With the help of my family and friends, I renovated the entire property – let me repeat, the entire property: the carpeting, beds, couches, games, electronics, deck, pool, hot tub, kitchens, electric, and so on. Upon starting out, I had no clue what I was doing, but using what I learned from my experience in the Hamptons and my business attributes, it turned into an absolute success.

That accomplishment and its subsequent success fueled my search for a second property in the area. When I purchased “Your Own Inn” I knew it was a unique property, so finding something comparable had to be a challenge. When I pulled up for the first time to what’s now called “Your Own Estate” I was stunned! A property such as this only comes along once in your lifetime.

Local workers who came to give renovation quotes prior to the purchase told me, “you’ll own a piece of heaven!” – a beautiful property that many of the locals never even knew existed! After losing the property in a bidding war, I was devastated. But, as fate would have it, the deal fell through with the other buyer. My dad said everything always happens for a reason, and true to his word, I now own a piece of heaven.

Like the other property, I renovated “Your Own Estate” from top to bottom, with the help of my real estate agent Fran, whom I now consider my close friend. And just like its predecessor, it proved to be an incredible success.

I often ask, why me? I think it’s the fact that I am able to provide family, friends, co-workers, and even complete strangers with the chance to relax, rejuvenate, connect, make memories and form bonds that will last a lifetime. And I enjoy every minute of it!

I run my business as I run my life… Do unto others as you would want done unto you. Please use my homes to do all of the above and feel free to spread the word. Please feel at home and treat it as your own so that these unique places can help make memories for generations to come.

I look forward to helping each and every one of my visitors have the absolute best experience and fondest memories that our properties can bring.

Warmest Regards,

Brett Hogan
